Internal Family Systems CEU

 IFS & Befriending Protectors

Course Description: This course will provide both an overview of the IFS model, as well as focus on developing particular skills in working with clients’ protectors (a core component of the IFS model). The presenter will utilize experiential exercises to explore unblending from protectors through befriending in order to allow clients more access to Self energy. Participants will also learn practical tools to help with mapping and interviewing parts, to assist clients in becoming more aware of, connected to, and curious about their inner systems.

Educational Goals: This course is designed to help participants better understand the core foundations of the IFS model. Participants will learn strategies for helping clients identify their Parts’ jobs and good intentions, including the original contexts in which their roles were taken on, to assist with unblending. Additionally, it will help participants with identifying, exploring, and utilizing Parts work to assist their clients with accessing more Self energy, and in turn bringing greater clarity, inner harmony, and regulation to their daily lives.

Presented by: Elizabeth Droppers, LMFT (MI 4101006612)

Elizabeth Droppers (she/her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified IFS Clinician. Throughout her 10+ years working with clients, her primary focus has been providing IFS therapy to women and helping professionals.

Elizabeth, once a California resident, ended up working with an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist upon her return to Michigan, and it was transformational. After a couple years of being a client, she sought IFS Level One Training, individual and group IFS consultation and submitted recordings of a live IFS session to demonstrate competency and earn certification in the model. Maintaining the status of a Certified IFS Clinician requires ongoing training, and though she does these trainings partially to stay certified, she also keeps returning to IFS trainings and resources because of their genuine helpfulness, for her and clients.
